Eyes for AI — User Guide

Give your AI eyes. Snap another screen or a sheet of paper with your phone, and it lands in your AI chat.

A phone on a desk arm photographs another laptop's spreadsheet; the photo is pasted into Claude Code, which explains the formula error.

1. What you need

ItemDetails
Android phoneAndroid 8.0 or later. This is the camera.
Windows PCWindows 10 or 11 (64-bit). This is where your AI chat runs.
Wi-FiYour phone and PC must be on the same Wi-Fi network.
Phone standA desk arm or stand that holds your phone steady above or in front of what you want to photograph.
Phone chargerRecommended. Keep your phone plugged in while you use it.

Eyes for AI works with any AI chat that accepts pasted images, such as Claude Code or ChatGPT.

2. Install the two apps

Eyes for AI has two parts: an app on your phone (it takes the photo) and an app on your PC (it receives the photo and pastes it into your AI chat). You need both.

1
PC: install Eyes for AI from the Microsoft Store and open it. Its icon appears in the taskbar tray, near the clock.
2
Phone: the first time the PC app starts, it shows a QR code. Scan it with your phone's camera to open Eyes for AI on Google Play, then install it.
The PC app's window: Scan this QR code with your phone's camera.
You can show the QR code again any time: right-click the tray icon and choose Get the phone app (QR code).
Installed the phone app first? Open it and tap Get the PC app (free) to find the PC app.

3. Connect your phone over Wi-Fi

1
Open Eyes for AI on your phone and allow the camera and notification permissions. The screen shows the camera view.
2
Find the Wi-Fi pairing code (6 digits) at the bottom left of the phone screen.
3
Enter it on your PC. The first time you open the PC app, press Next: connect your phone on the QR code window. Any time later, right-click the tray icon and choose Pair phone over Wi-Fi.... When it finds your phone, enter the 6-digit code.
4
You'll see "… is paired." That's it. You only need to do this once.
The connection is encrypted, and only a PC that knows your code can pair. A new code appears after each successful pairing. After 5 wrong codes, wait about a minute before trying again.

4. Set up your phone

1
Mount your phone on the stand. For another PC's screen, put the phone in front of it, landscape. For paper, point the phone straight down at the desk.
2
Open the phone app. Move the phone until the left and right edges of the monitor line up with the two green lines on the phone screen. Space above and below the monitor is fine — it is cropped automatically.
3
Close the app screen if you like. Eyes for AI keeps working with the phone screen off.

5. Take a photo

1
Open your AI chat and click in the message box.
2
Press F9 (or Pause). In about a second, the photo — cropped to the screen — is pasted into the message box.
3
Type your question and send it.
The full-resolution photo is also saved on your Desktop, in a folder named after the date (for example 2026-11-02). If the AI misreads small text, give it that file instead.

6. Tips

7. Troubleshooting

ProblemWhat to do
"Can't find your phone on this Wi-Fi network"Open the Eyes for AI app on your phone. Check that the phone and PC are on the same Wi-Fi network (not a guest network).
"That code isn't right"Enter the code shown on the phone right now. It changes after each pairing.
Nothing is pastedClick in the AI chat's message box first, then press F9. Apps running as administrator only accept pasting from apps that also run as administrator.
It worked, then stoppedOpen the phone app again. If it keeps stopping, set the app's battery usage to Unrestricted in Android settings.
The photo is blurryMake sure nothing moves the phone, and try moving it slightly closer or farther.
Something elseRight-click the tray icon and choose Check / fix connection. It tries to reconnect and tells you what to do.

8. Advanced: connect with a USB cable

You can also connect with a USB cable instead of Wi-Fi. It's a bit faster and charges the phone, but it needs a developer setting on your phone.

  1. On your phone, turn on Developer options (Settings › About phone › tap Build number 7 times), then turn on USB debugging.
  2. Connect the phone to the PC with a USB cable. When the phone asks "Allow USB debugging?", tap Allow.
  3. The PC app connects by itself. While a USB cable is connected, it uses USB; otherwise it uses Wi-Fi.
Only turn on USB debugging on a phone you own and on a PC you trust.

9. Your photos and privacy

Photos go straight from your phone to your own PC. They are never sent to our servers. Whether a photo is then sent to an AI service is up to you — it happens only when you send your chat message. Please follow your workplace's rules about photographing screens and documents.

10. Uninstall

PC: Settings › Apps › Installed apps › Eyes for AI › Uninstall.   Phone: long-press the app icon › Uninstall.
